Doug and I met at Virginia Tech in July of 2005 at Tots:) As I asked who he was and was told, "Allyson he's the coach", he proceeded to wink at me from across the room. Now if you were to ask him his response would be she stalked me all night and I had something in my eye, but we know the real truth! After a few dates, and mastering texting, that was all she wrote! We had a wonderful fall and spring followed by a crazy summer where I went to Georgetown University for an internship while he moved to Iowa City to become a coach of the University of Iowa wrestling program. Yes six months apart was hard, but ended up bringing us closer. December came faster than it felt and I found myself packing up the Civic, and with my parents in the rear view mirror, I headed 12 hours west with nothing planned, little in my pocket, but excitement in my heart for the man I knew would some day be my husband.
